School Uniform Changes for September 2026

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting families and ensuring our school uniform remains both practical and affordable, we are making some changes to our uniform requirements from September 2026.

These changes reflect the new Department for Education's (DfE) statutory guidance on school uniforms, which aims to reduce costs for families and ensure that school uniforms represent good value for money.

The DfE guidance requires schools to:

• Limit the number of compulsory branded uniform items to no more than three (plus a tie in secondary schools).
• Ensure that second-hand uniform is readily available and accessible to families.
• Consider affordability and value for money when making uniform purchasing arrangements.

As part of this review, we are delighted to inform you that in addition to Monkhouse, we have now onboarded Lisa’s Schoolwear (East Prescot Road) as an additional supplier for our school uniform.  Lisa will provide flexible payment options, lay away, and try on options for your child.  Monkhouse will continue to provide online delivery options.

Following a review of our uniform policy, Governors agreed the only compulsory branded items from September will be:

We have high expectations of our uniform and request that all families who attend Runnymede adhere to our uniform policy and support this.

Your child is representing our excellent school name whilst wearing their uniform and we want our Young Edwardian's to take pride in themselves.

All items must be clearly labelled with your child's name. Staff will be unable to help search for lost items if they are not clearly named.   We would suggest if you write your child's name on items that you periodically check it has not come out in the wash.

• Jewellery is not permitted. Your child will be asked to remove jewellery

• Hair must be tied back with a black or purple bobble

• Nail varnish is not allowed to be worn

• Watches are permitted to be worn, however, Smart Watches are not allowed

• A small stud earring is allowed

• Mobile phones are not allowed in school

• Water bottles should be inexpensive to buy and have plain water only. Flavoured water is not permitted and will be emptied in school and replaced with plain water

• Large water bottles (Such as 'Stanley' water bottle size or other such makes) are not allowed
