Part of the Edmund Rice family of schools

On behalf of the staff and children I would like to welcome you to Runnymede St Edward’s Catholic Primary School situated in West Derby, Liverpool. As the Cathedral Choir School for the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral and preferred feeder school for the outstanding St Edward’s College, I am extremely proud to be appointed to the position of Headteacher of such a wonderful school with long standing traditions. At our most recent Section 48 RE Inspection, the school achieved ‘Outstanding’ in all areas.
Runnymede St Edward’s is steeped in history, having been established as a school in 1938. Today we continue to be inspired by the work of Edmund Rice, our founding Father, who was inspired by the Gospels to reach out to the destitute. With a group of friends, Edmund formed a religious congregation that sought to improve the lives of those made poor, via transformational education. Runnymede is part of a global network of schools who are united in the spirit of the Blessed Edmund Rice. Christian Brothers’ schools today are challenged by the story of Edmund as they seek to live out the gospel values in the competitive climate of today’s educational world.
