Our Mission
'Have courage, the good seed will grow in the children's hearts'
The following aims have been compiled through consultation with the staff and Governors of the school. The statements after each aim outline some of the strategies employed to achieve them.
At Runnymede St Edward’s Catholic Primary School, our mission is rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and inspired by the life and charism of Blessed Edmund Rice. We believe that every child is created in the image and likeness of God, is uniquely precious and has gifts and talents to discover, develop and share.
Our mission is lived through everything we do: our prayer and worship, our relationships, our curriculum, our care for one another and our commitment to serving our local and global community.
Faith
To encourage and foster the spiritual growth of all and to make prayer an integral and enjoyable experience in our daily life
We aim:
- To nurture the spiritual and faith development of every child and adult within our school community.
- To make prayer, worship and reflection an integral, meaningful and joyful part of daily school life.
- To help children develop a personal relationship with God and recognise His presence in themselves, in others and in the world around them.
- To provide rich opportunities for children to encounter Christ through Scripture, prayer, liturgy, the Sacraments and acts of service.
- To ensure that our Catholic faith influences the choices we make and the way in which we treat one another.
- To deepen our children's understanding of the life and charism of Blessed Edmund Rice and the Edmund Rice Eight Essentials.
Individual Opportunity for Learning and Growth
To provide experiences that broaden, enrich and extend the skills, talents and values of each member of the school community
We aim:
- To provide an ambitious, broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum that enables every child to achieve highly.
- To have the highest expectations for every pupil, regardless of background, starting point or individual need.
- To recognise and celebrate the individuality, talents, achievements and potential of every child.
- To encourage children to be courageous learners who are willing to ask questions, take appropriate risks and learn from mistakes.
- To provide opportunities for children to discover and develop talents in sport, music, the arts, leadership, service and the wider curriculum.
- To prepare our children with the knowledge, skills, values and character they need for the next stage of their education and for life beyond Runnymede.
Relationships
To provide a safe, caring and welcoming environment in which all are treated with respect, courtesy and kindness. Runnymede St Edward’s School upholds our Edmund Rice values and British values. We encourage respect for all.
We aim:
- To provide a safe, happy, caring and welcoming environment for every member of our community.
- To ensure that every child feels known, valued, listened to and respected.

We aim:
- To foster a strong partnership between home, school, Church and the wider community.
- To recognise parents and carers as essential partners in the education and formation of their children.
